This is a very old (1995) machine, made by Digital Equipment Corporation. I just updated bios to 1.05 from "Compaq Legacy Support" website, somewhere deep inside hp.com. I have dual PIIs in this thing, of different origins and speeds. If I try booting up gentoo kernel, the screen turns black and that's it. When I tried with gentoo-nofb, this is what I got. I did set PNP in bios to NO and disabled everything (COM, Parallel, USB) except floppy and the two on-board IDEs. Anyone ever dealt with this?
Btw, I had Windows 2003 running on it about a year ago, just to see if it still worked. Also, it's a total bitch to boot from the CD. I have to load up Smart Boot Manager from floppy and tell it to boot from CD. _________________ Weeks of coding saves hours of planning. |
