I want to be able to connect my laptop to my USB phone away from work. The lan connection is currently working. I connect with pon to my usb phone/modem and it appears to connect fine but I am unable to browse the web or ping anything.

do you have the ip of a nameserver in your /etc/resolv.conf ?
