You might try using the Xeasyconf ebuild (for PPC architecture only). You might also search the PPC forum for people who are also using the Mac platform to see what they have done to get similar hardware working.

When you emerge and run Xeasyconf, make sure you agree with default choices (Xeasyconf will have a dialog with you). Then startx, then see what's the problem (visually and in the /var/log/XF86.0 log file) and report it back here (better on PPC forum, or even better if the current moderator will move this thread into PPC). Don't forget to report the lspci output, the version of your kernel, what frame buffer modules are on, CFLAGS, KEYWORDS, and the version of Xfree as well. Someone (me?) may help you then.

There is a big chance that Xeasyconf will help you (if you didn't screw up your system like I did  ) and you won't have any problems to report :)

Thanks for the help on the xeasyconf and for the information about the ppc forums this is the first Linux site that I know of having a section dedicated to ppc. hmmm maybe next time I'll open my eyes first before asking?
