Hullo,
I just did an emerge upgrade of mplayer, which caused all kinds of crazy problems, which I have mostly sorted out, but I'm still stuck on a few (konsole never managing to start up is the most annoying atm)
The first is that when I upgraded mplayer, it upgraded Qt, and clobbered all my Qt styles with the built-in Qt ones. I remerged kdelibs and I've got most of the kde styles back, except dotNet, which is (annoyingly) my favourite. Is it part of another package which I can remerge to get back, or should I try something different? Some random help from my brain:
Code: |
sh-2.05b$ locate dotnet
/usr/kde/3/lib/kde3/plugins/styles/dotnet.la
/usr/kde/3/lib/kde3/plugins/styles/dotnet.so
/usr/kde/3/share/apps/kstyle/themes/dotnet.themerc
sh-2.05b$ locate riscos
/usr/kde/3/lib/kde3/kwin_riscos.la
/usr/kde/3/lib/kde3/kwin_riscos.so
/usr/kde/3/share/apps/kstyle/pixmaps/riscos
/usr/kde/3/share/apps/kstyle/pixmaps/riscos/arrowdown.png
/usr/kde/3/share/apps/kstyle/pixmaps/riscos/arrowdown_down.pnp
... etc for all the other pixmaps

When I go into the KDE control center, the dotNet style doesn't show up!!
Now, another problem is that in apps that use Gtk (e.g. Xchat and Mozilla), I can't seem ot use my truetype fonts. In Xchat, I was using "ms-arial-etc." but now it says it can't find that font, and when I look in the fonts list it hasn't got any of my truetype fonts at all! Qt apps have no problem finding them though. Similarly, Mozilla no longer shows them in its font list. How can I fix this? |

can't help you, but I've emerged QT as well and indeed, only built-in QT styles, nothing else! |

Well if it helps, I emerged kdelibs again and it brought back most of the Qt styles, except dotNet which was bizarre. |

Aside for the built in ones, if I remember well, you need to recompile your widget styles after any qt/kdelib upgrades (well, maybe not for all, but for most) |

It's annoying that I didn't get any warning of that when executing a command that I thought would pose no problems (emerge -u mplayer). It was pretty disconcerting booting up to find everything had gone nuts!
Anywhew, any ideas about dotNET? it was there when I compiled KDE the first time, but not now. Is it in another package perhaps? |

Thanks, but that was for KDE2.2, which won't compile with 3.0.
I found out though that dotNET comes in the kdeartwork package, so I'm just recompiling kdeartwork and I should have dotNET back. Yummy
Still none the wiser about my missing TTF fonts in GTK apps mind you :-/ |
