I'm trying to figure out how to build a bootable CDROM for Sparc.
Looking at the livecd image, it appaars that there is a Sunlabel on the disk. The label has a single partition - "linux native" type. Yet when mounted, the kermel says its iso9660. Where does SILO come into play? What bout boot blocks?
I've seen docs on building a Solais bootable cd, and I have created one. How do I do it for Linux? |

Nowadays the livecds are built using a metatool called catalyst.
Check the generic documentation at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/releng/catalyst/ to being with.
Then you should probably fetch the specfiles from CVS for sparc, located at gentoo/src/releng/specs/2004.3/sparc (there's also gentoo/src/releng/kconfig/2004.3/sparc for the kernel config files). You can access through our web CVS interface (check in the homepage for the URL).
If you wanna know the guts emerge catalyst and check the livecd-stage? targets, and also the sparc64/32 archscript which does the ISO magic. _________________ Gustavo Zacarias
