I got the xmms source by hand and that worked, but was planning on emerging gnome and was wondering what to do next. Thanks. |

Just had the problem today, I unmasked perl 5.8.0_r3 and upgraded perl från 5.6.1. Then I emerged openjade and everything went just fine. _________________ ~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~

Go to 5.8.0 and it will probably work ... it did for me. _________________ ~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~

I unmasked it aswell but emerge search still doesn't see it. I got the source myself but got a error during the make. |

Doesn't it require ACCEPT_KEYWORDS?
Code: |
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p perl
|

If you walk into /usr/portage/sys-dev/perl dir you can emerge it without ACCEPT_KEYWORDS. Just call the .ebuild file explicit and it will work. Something like:
Code: | emerge -u perl-5.8.0_r2.ebuild |
or whatever the .ebuild file is named.

Thanks! Mine got stuck on openjade as well while emerging Gnome, and using 5.8.0 r6 let it get beyond that error. Now, I just hope that Gnome works after this...
