|
|
Hi!
I've just got a new laptop (FSC Amilo A 1630) with a SiS900-Ethernet-Controller onboard.
I can only use DHCP with this card when I boot with "acpi=off"! I tried kernels 2.6.7, .8, .9, everywhere the same, but why only without ACPI?
dmesg with ACPI enabled:
Code: | eth0: Realtek RTL8201 PHY transceiver found at address 1.
eth0: Using transceiver found at address 1 as default
eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet at 0xd800, IRQ 5, 00:03:0d:13:8e:ce.
eth0: Media Link On 100mbps half-duplex
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
eth0: Transmit timeout, status 00000004 00000249 |
Thx for any ideas how to do DHCP and ACPI at the same time

That's funny!
I have Asus laptop with SIS900 onboard AND acpi enabled and it works
fine with dhcp, as a matter of fact I run it exclusively with dhcp.
Sorry no help here!
Are you sure it is acpi related issue? |

I am also using the sis900 nic on a desktop. Couldn't get it to work with dhcp when I installed with the LiveCD. After fiddling with it for a long time I had to do a networkless install. |

Yeah, got it
Had to activate
[*] Local APIC on uniprocessors
and
[*] IO-APIC on uniprocessors
in kernel config!
ACPI and DHCP now works just how they should |

It is activated over here too!
Maybe it wouldn't work for me either if I had it disabled!
