Well that's the m4 bit - try re-emerging m4 and then try again, see what happens?

Try:
Code:

emerge autoconf automake coreutils

It fixed the problem for me.

Is this the same error?

I can't get 5.2 or 5.2.1 to build.

No, that's a completely different error. You need to re-emerge ncurses:

Code:
emerge --oneshot ncurses

Thanks for the help.

I'm building a stage1 using catalyst 1.08 on an amd64 machine, which is where this error occurred.

Is your suggestion still possible in that case :roll:

/me very new to catalyst! :wink:

Well I've never used catalyst, but /lib/libncurses.so is part of ncurses, so if it isn't finding it, re-emerge ncurses and see if it still breaks.

Thanks; I need to read up how I chroot into the catalyst build so I can redo ncurses ...

Thanks for the pointer.

edit: figured it out :) building continues ...

it don't work;

i've probed with:

- re-emerging autoconf
- re-emerging automake
- re-emerging ncurses

but the problem of coreutils is still existing..

any idea's?

(Gentoo 2004.3, ~x86 on a 32bit-Processor)

after 3 day's of searching, i've found
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=137279
and there something working:

Code:
emerge --deep -u coreutils

after that continuous with:

Code:
emerge system

good luck!

I have the same coreutils problem("Reconfiguring configure scripts...") while emerging system and none of the above solutions work. When I do "emerge -uD coreutils" it starts on libtool, which fails:

Code:
updating cache .././config.cache
creating ./config.status
creating Makefile
creating config.h
* Building libtool-1.3.5 ...
rm -f acinclude.m4
cp ./libtool.m4 acinclude.m4
cd . && /var/tmp/portage/libtool-1.5.2-r7/work/libtool-1.3.5/missing aclocal
/bin/sh: /var/tmp/portage/libtool-1.5.2-r7/work/libtool-1.3.5/missing: No such file or directory
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 127

!!! ERROR: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r7 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 159, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

And like I said, I have tried remerging autoconf, automake, m4....

EDIT: I unmasked libtool-1.5.10, that works, but I don't know how long that will last, considering this bug:
