kernel 2.4.26-r9, gnome, Soundblaser Live, oss and alsa.

It doesn't matter of I use oss or alsa, still I get this scratchy sound playing mp3 files using xmms. Anyone have any idea what this can be?

turn the PCM volume down to about 70%
