|
|
I had everything working fine, and did the "/scripts/bootsrap.sh" step. It printed about 10 lines or so, then went blank. AFter a time, the monitor switched off. Is this normal, or am I wasting hours waiting for it?
I tried search, but found nothing...
Edit - Well, I kinda found out what the problem was. After 6 tries, all ending up with a non-recoverable blank screen (monitor in power saving), I realized it always happened when I had the KVM switched to my Win machine(playing Battlefield 1942!).
I set an item on my shift key, and did NOT switch the KVM. This time the screen stayed on, and everything finished. Nothing else was changed whatsoever, and the KVM has never screwed anything up before. Not sure about the EXACT cause, but it worked...

Have you tried pressing your SHIFT key? I have found during an install of Gentoo that it will blank the screen and the monitor will eventually go into power-saving mode. I just tap the SHIFT key once to 'wake-up' the screen to see how things are progressing. Give that a shot.

Well, I got the bootstrap.sh running.
1st time:
guide says to:
cd /mnt/gentoo
env-update
source /etc/profile
but env-update doesn't work and I have to 'emerge-sync' to fix.
I did that, then 'env-update' then the 'source /etc/profile' step. and continued on next step past the emerge.
2nd time, same problem, env-update didn't work, so I 'emerge sync' to fix and went back to the env-update to continue along with the guide.
env-update - worked this time
source /etc/profile
emerge sync - again, as it's listed t be run after the previous two commands |
