I would like to play mp3 on my server, but have the sound on my laptop. I once read how this could be done in a simple way, no icecast etc, but totally forgot where I read it. If I tunnel the "sound" or the mp3-file doesn't reallt matter. Anyone have an idea? |

I do the same thing every day when I work from the labs at school. I installed gnump3 which runs as a daemon and has a nice web interface on port 8888 so I tunnel that port through ssh, open 127.0.0.1:8888 at school and can play all my mp3s that are at home that way.
Not sure if that's what you meant by icecast, I guess gnump3d is similar to icecast maybe, but it works pretty well for me. |
