I have a problem with the plugin gkrellm-volume, it wont let me use mixer devices such as Master/PCM. The only ones i can access is "Line1, Line2 and Video".
I got full control of Master/PCM etc in alsamixer and amixer.
I had full access over Master/PCM before, but i don't know what i've managed to change
What's wrong ? |

The second tab on the volume plugin configuration is labeled Options. At the bottom is a place to set your external mixer. Does it say 'alsamixer'? If it is something else, that could be the problem. |

yes it's set to 'alsamixer'
I guess OSS is the problem
I Can't play anything with oss output (xmms/mplayer/etc)
And then i used both the kernel OSS and alsa OSS-emulation
neither one of 'em works
And when trying to send some output to /dev/dsp i just get:
Code: |
snapcase@bakayarou snapcase $ cat /dev/urandom >/dev/dsp
cat: write error: Invalid argument
|
I have oss <module> support in kernel
Do i need anything more ? |

Maybe that's the problem. If you are using the alsa modules, you should have sound support in the kernel, which can be built in or as a module, but no other sound options should be turned on. If you want OSS, try 'emerge alsa-oss'. |

solved to problem.
it was my tv card module (saa7134) wich disabled (!?) OSS.
Had to rmmod and "re-modprobe" it. Now it works perfect |
