As you can see its very Quake3/Doomish. Enjoy.

Looks a lot like Serious Sam. And to me, that's a good thing - I love getting some Serious Sammage going on (need to get Iculus' Linux port installed). Thanks, I'll try it out when I get back on my home system.

BTW, love your avatar.

I can't get it to work. It keeps giving me various errors. First it was lack of lib_SDL which I emerged, then I got complaints about sdl-mixer and sdl-images . After I got those emerged now I get the following error:
Quote:

./bin_unix/linux_client: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I can't figure out if I have openGL installed or not. I think i do because xscreensaver uses it and it works just fine. Also Im still not sure about how to unmask a masked ebuild.

I am usign a ATI Radeon 7000 (PCI version). Does anyone got any insights. I am really trying to play some good games (FPS) on linux. This is my first attempt.

ldconfig can ONLY be run as a superuser (by default). And no it didn do me any good. I finally got the game to work but I was only getting 8 frames per sec. I don´t know what else to tweak.

/usr/games/bin/cube_client

That should do it.

It's... erm... very..... Quake2ish. Don't you think?

Well thnx to Charlieg I got it to work. The first thing that I noticed
is that game doesn't understand my resolution...I mean that I saw
800X600 game in the middle and rest is black. Is there a way to get
around that? I dind't find anything in options :( Well anyway I was a
bit upset when game freezed when I tried to connect to myltiplayer game
on other server...Well game runs on 486 and is openSource, what can I
say...GOOD JOB...more games like this and we can *REALLY* say that Linux
is gamers OS.

Game needs a lot of work, like better options and more stability. I can
tell that I will keep my eyes on this game development. Pity that huge
game houses like IDsoftware will get all the publicity...With hits like
DOOM III.

Never less a job well done

I've got it, played it for a while without any problems I can remember.

It's a pretty bog-standard game, nothing special in the engine (block-based 1-level maps), though it does look veyr pretty. The AI is lame compared to any modern games... well, even compared to the venerable Quake1 Reaperbots, and the weapons seem a bit weak, but it's still a good bit of fun if you're bored. It's the sort of game that's insanely fun to play online against some human opponents for a few rounds, before it gets a bit dull, but which you can return to in a few days and have the same insane fun for a few more rounds :) It'd be cool if someone took the engine and did something interesting gameplay-wise with it 8)

Forse, there is a fix I've just found for the problem where the client locks up trying to connect to a server:
