I believe this problem just started with the last Gnome update but about once a day my PS2 mouse goes crazy for about 20 seconds. When I move the mouse it acts as if I am clicking on things and the cursor seems to move all over the screen independent of the actual mouse movement. The consequence is that Gnome thinks I clicked on a bunch of stuff and various apps start to open. Just a minute ago it happened and the system monitor applet crashed.
When I updated Gnome I shutdown Gnome and ran emerge from a console (ctrl-alt-F1).
Has anyone else had this problem?

well i had that problem 2 times... the first time, the mouse protocol got changed... the second time the mouse went kaput.. soo all i could suggest is make sure you have the right mouse driver/protocol set up second get a cheap mouse and see if it still does it |

I switched my mouse yesterday and it appears to be working. Thanks for the tip. I didn't suspect the mouse since I had zero problems with it and when I upgraded Gnome this last time it started to act crazy. What a coincidence.
