Hey people,

Just finished a veeeery long compile of KDE 3.1rc5. Looks and works great, except for one thing: Had a lot of themes and styles in KDE 3.0.4, all of which now show up in the control centre. However, when I click on a theme, it gives me an error that it does not contain a .themerc file, and puts a folder with the theme name and some resources in my home directory.

I did tar xzf on the .ktheme file, which produced a directory with, funnily enough, a .themerc file. Any ideas why this is happening? Shouldn't be just pre-release jitters, as rc5 as supposed to be final 3.1 before they got nervous about some security flaw...

Also, has anyone gotten menu translucency to work with Mosfet's Liquid style? Works fine with Keramik, but not liquid (used to work in 3.0.4 with the KDE3 version of liquid).

Lastly - I installed a lot of styles and themes in KDE 3.0.4 from kde-look.org. I've sinced deleted the original tarballs. How do I remove some of these?

Martin

Are you running the latest mosfet-liquid-widgets?
The 0.9.6pre1 version is masked and according to the lliquid website it's been rewritten for kde3.1.
Since I'm still compiling kde3.1rc5 (upgrading from kde3.1rc3) I haven't tried it myself yet, but plan to. Just as soon as I can get past these libpng errors. :)

Actually, this happens with all themes I've downloaded from kde-look.org: I click the name in the theme manager, and get an error message about a missing .themerc and a folder with the theme name and various files (basically, this is the contents of the .ktheme file when un-tar-gz'd) . Am I the only one this happens to?

Anyone found a cause/solution to the .themerc errors yet?

If you got em from KDELOOK, are they built from sourcecode(compiled) or what?

If compiled from source, have you tried to recompiled them?

I didn't/don't get them from kde-look.org.

I'm having problem (as are the others, I believe) with ALL themes, including the default installed themes.

If you go to kdelook.org and select KDE 3.0 themes and download them, check the instructions on how to install them.

They normally needs to be unpacked into a temp directory and then run an installer from there.

I just downloaded the energia theme and installed and is using it now. Works fine.

Oh and to the guy who talked about compiling the themes from source, duh! The themes are just colors and icons and window decorations, i.e graphical files. No compiling needed :)
