Grub and usb wireless keyboard

I installed a dualboot XP/Gentoo on a friends computer

The usb wireless keyboard works just fine under XP and Gentoo, however grub does not take any input from the keyboard... so he's unable to select XP or Gentoo on the bootup menu!

(Cordless keyboard Remote KL-166IR/RF)

Any idea's how to fix this? :?:
