I'm having some bizarre issues with getting the Nvidia drivers to work with my new motherboard/chip. Basically, the Agpgart says it does not support the chipset but when I do
Code: | insmod agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 |
it loads at 4x AGP with the correct aperture. The problem comes however when I load the nvidia drivers. This happens in both 3123 and 4191 drivers. First, the system loads X and runs ok and after 30 or so seconds starts getting chunky. Then after about a minute my input goes down (can't type, but can use the mouse) and I'm forced to do a hard reboot. I've tried all three AGP settings (on, off and NVagp) with both sets of drivers and get the same performance issues. The board I have is http://www.ecs.com.tw/products/pd_spec.asp?product_id=51. If you have any insight, help would be appreciated.
Matt
Also I just remembered that I just installed Xfree 4.3.0, however the problems where there with 4.2.1 as well :/. |

I figured it out. Seems the IO/Uniprocessor APIC and agpgart/nvidia drivers don't play well together. I just removed them from the kernel, and now it's stable, although i still need to use "agp_try_unsupported=1" when loading the agpgart module.
