hi folks,

as i'm pretty happy with emerge on my amd64, i wanted to give the macosx installation a shot...

i installed portage, linked the make.conf and did a emerge sync...

while then trying to do a emerge system, it complains about a bunch of unresolved dependendcies...

fembot:~# emerge system
Calculating system dependencies /

fembot:~#

this is only one example... by adding the ppc-macos keyword to the coreutils, it starts complaining for another dozen packages...

most propably i'm too stupid, but can anybody give me a hint what i'm making wrong ?

cheers
/hannes

No you're not stupid, this is a bug in coreutils; see here. I remember distinctly that I emerged coreutils some time ago, but I checked, and your right: there seems to be a host of dependencies that lack the ppc-macos keyword as well. I think a bug report would be in order.

It was actually a cruical line that got removed from the debianutils ebuild. If you've installed coreutils, you may have a bit of a problem in the future as it overwrites some important macos utilities, but until we get a coreutils virtual we can't fix this. I've fixed the debian utils ebuild in CVS.
