I recently installed gentoo for the first time, and after a couple roadblocks got
it almost all working, except for my sound. my sound card is a CMI8783
I have it compiled into the kernel, and my user in the audio group. But still don't seem to have any sound. Any ideas on what could be wrong, or ways of figureing out whats wrong is appreciated. thx |

I have a CM8738, but i havnt used it for a while (because i have a soundblaster live 5.1), but when I did use it it worked. all i had to do is put "cmpci" into /etc/modules.autoload or type "modprobe cmpci" |

cmpci doesn't seem to be the problem, dmesg shows that its finding the card
cmpci: found CM8738 adapter at io 0x9800 irq 10 |
