|
|
I just finished installing Gentoo 2.4.27 onto an Ultra5, I used a stage3 sparc64 build and believe that I've followed the instructions correctly, though I'm not denying that I might be missing something.
The last messages on the boot screen before it stops are:
hdc: attached ide-cdrom driver.
hdc: ATAPI 32X CD-ROM drive, 128kB Cache, DMA
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12
Has anyone else seen this happen and know a solution? _________________ "Well, so much for the laws of physics." -Benkei, pilot of Getter Posidon and Shin Getter 3. |

Yup. Your problem looks identical to mine while i still hadn't
figured out the ide=nodma kernel boot option.
Try it. You can pass the argument on the SILO prompt, if it works,
put it in your silo.conf.
