may this be about i use ntplonly? |
I have ntplonly also and don't have those problems.
Do you have emul-linux-x86-nvidia library installed? If you have the latest nvidia drivers, it's not needed.
Did you fix the invalid atom problem in portage? |
im using the version 7174 of the nvidia drivers,
ive tryed to emerge this emul lib but i wasnt able, it was masked and but wasnt in any file.
What atom problem? _________________ ------------------------------------

Good, it's not needed with that version.

ah yes i found it, that was an attemp to try to emerge that emul-...-nvidia lib, but as you said thats not necessary with this drivers.
well ive no idea how to fix this _________________ ------------------------------------

I also have that problem... I try to run the installer to warcraft III, "cedega /mnt/cdrom/install.exe", but nothing happends, no error, no installer, it just quits. I have the 7174 version of nvidia-kernel & glx... any idea about what might be wrong? |

Hi, I'm new to Gentoo and trying to setup my ~amd64. Having truly a hard time...
Got something working and trying now to getting Cedega to work before eventually wasting time to fully set-up
a system that don't let me do what I want
As of now I'm using Nvidia Drivers 1.0-7174 due to previous posting statement "they don't need any compat libs emerged".
But I've a problem... when the nvidia-installer prompts me for installing 32-bit libraries... IF I say "yes" (and supposedly I've to)
the installer fails, leaving me with nvidia drivers working WITHOUT glx.
The log says:
Quote: |

this is that conflicting OpenGL libraries are installed in a location
not inspected by nvidia-installer. Please be sure you have uninstalled
any third-party OpenGL and third-party graphics driver packages.

I tried to::
- install 1.0-7174 drivers without 32bit libs... then glx works and so do glxgears.
Then, If I run cedega I can see a spike in CPU usage for 1 second, then nothing.
Cedega DON'T start and bash waits for prompt. Even in processes I can't see wine.
Could this be related to missing 32bit libs ?
- remove nvidia 1.0-7174 and emerge gentoo drivers instead.
All fine with emerge nvidia-kernel and emerge nvidia-glx.
THEN, to emerge emul-linux-x86-nvidia it fails because everything is hard-masked somewhere (don't know where).
I'm at a dead end now. Don't know if cedega don't starts cause of missing libs (as I can only suppose)
and don't know how to try the emerge way (even don't know if that would solve !)
Any suggestion is REALLY apprecciated.
Many thanks. |

Sorry forgot to say that I managed to solve my problem, I forgot to emerge the emul-linux-x86 librarys (why doesn't cedega depend on them?), so the sulotion was easy:
Code: | emerge -avD emul-linux-x86-qtlibs emul-linux-x86-soundlibs |
Now cedega works just fine
Chareos:
you should never use the nvidia installer, if you emerge the 7174 nvidia driver, it woks like a charm, and you don't need emul-linux-x86-nvidia. |

Don't use the installer from the NVidia, use the package included in portage.
If you've emerge 1.0.7174, you don't need to emerge emul-linux-x86-nvidia
Make sure to run Code: | opengl-update nvidia | after emerging nvidia-kernel.
Start cedega with the debug option to get more useful output. |

Code: | mount binfmt_misc -t binfmt_misc /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc |

I just had the same "Text relocations" problem. I deleted the ~/.wine directory(s), unmerged wine and emerged again with no complaints. |
