I'm rinning kernel 2.5, but the sys hardlocks if i try to access my ide cdrom as a scsi drive (to burn cds). this happenms w/ xcdroast and cdrecord. xcdroast also can't read form the drive in raw mode (still using scsi emulatin)
I am running 2.5.47. what versions have y'all run sucessfully w/ a cd-r in scsi emulation. should i just emerge that verison, copy scsi files frm the new version's dir in /usr/src to 2.5.47 and rebuild? _________________ Aim:gsfgf0 |

Starting from kernel 2.4.45 IIRC you dont need ide-scsi to burn cd's.
just emerge the newest cdrtools and enjoy burning in ide mode |

And have the added bonus that it (ide-cd) now uses DMA also when extracting audio,

did you ever find a fix for the lockups? i'm having the same problem with 2.5.69-mm1 kernel, and all 2.5 kernels previously that i have tried. and i cannot get atapi burning to work, cdrecord never recognizes my drive, so im stuck with scsi emulation |

::edit
woo! nevermind, atapi cd burning is about half operational with k3b and 2.5.72-bk3, a bit if tweaking and i'll no doubt have it 100% |
