Hello,
I can play audio when I am root, but starting mpg123 or audacious as an ordenary user I get the following messages:
alsa: snd_device_name_hint failed: Permission denied.
alsa: snd_card_get_name failed: Permission denied.
alsa: snd_card_get_name failed: Permission denied.
alsa: snd_device_name_hint failed: Permission denied.
alsa: snd_card_get_name failed: Permission denied.
alsa: snd_card_get_name failed: Permission denied.
alsa: snd_mixer_attach failed: Permission denied.
Obviously I miss the necessary permissioins, so I started fiddling around with chmod /dev/snd - consolekit - adding the user to goup audio - etc., but to no avail.
Google didn't help either ... what am I supposed to do to grant the permissions to play audio as a simple user?

| After reboot it now works ... consolekit is not running ... no idea what made it run. |
