|
|
I just bought this 32MB memory device which is about the size of a large ballpoint pen. Under (ugh) Windows98SE, it works perfectly. I partitioned it into two parts, 4MB which is password protected, and 28 MB which isn't. Works exactly as advertised under WinBlows. Under Linux (Debian 3), I can see no sign of this device when it is plugged in. I should have also tried it under RH8 as well, but didn't yet. I haven't tried it with Gentoo yet, because of other problems, and lack of time, but shoule I expect it to work? Do I have to load any particular kernel driver or anything? This seems to be a lot like my HP318 camera, so I expect to eventually get the unprotected part working under linux, but is there any kind of security driver which supports the password protected part?
TIA, Ed |

Its probably compatible with the usb-storage kernel module, which emulates a SCSI-disk, so you'll need the sd_mod kernel module as well. |

Since I already have a CDRW using ide-scsi, wouldn't that mean that the sd-mod functionality is already there? |

No, it doesn't. You will need to enable SCSI Disk support (sd_mod).
Your CDRW uses ide-scsi and SCSI CD-ROM support (sr_mod)
Hope this helps |

OK, got it. I'll try it this weekend, or maybe this afternoon if this snow gets much worse.
What about the password-protected partition?
Thanks for your help,
