Yes, most certainly history.

Seems like google has decided to join in. The new default startpage is:
http://www.google.com/firefox

Eat that msn search!

Umm, there is one for IE as well.
Not nearly as pretty though...

That is because that page was intended to be displayed inside the sidebar of Internet Explorer.[/quote]

BTW, not to brag or anything, but I just downloaded Firefox 1.0 on the university network in the computer lab at 1.4MB/s). ;-)

Good to know i'm not the only one. ff was my browser of choice while learning linux on my p2 233. it was the only thing that was tolerable.

Anybody here using it since 0.1?

Well I don't know for the NYTimes but "Le Monde" (one of the main French newspaper) has an article about Firefox release of 1.0 ;)

Why do bin releases seem to not update nearly as fast as source releases in portage? firefox-bin and thunderbird-bin are both behind their source counterparts. The ebuild should be very simple to change, right?

I imagine there is already one submitted to bugs.gentoo.org,, but they don't seem to be put into portage as fast as the source ebuilds.

I haven't been, but my friend who introduced me to firefox (and later linux) has been. I am happily using 1.0 though :D

Got firefox 1 through bugzilla (reminds me of how Mac users would toss their pc into the trash to shut it down.... bassackwards! [just a joke guys, I love gentoo and understand the reasons....])

ebuilt and emerged and it is running great!

thanks fellas!

by the way, it seems to be starting and loading pages a lot faster, and I thought the prereleases of firefox were fast! (then again, I come from the slow IE world....) - so, am surprised firefox 1 is even FASTER than the betas!
