Basically it's situation where the sooner it gets into the mainline/vanilla kernel, the more people will test/use it. And the more people who test/use it, the sooner it wil be stable.

Man this may be very very awesome...

yeah i cant wait to use it, but im not gonna use anything other than gentoo-dev-sources kernels as i have had no problems with them.

so the sooner i see it in there, the sooner i'll be testing that bad boy out!

No.. there are still very serious issues to work out, like the metadata stuff - Reiser4 is not ready for mainline in it's current state - I urge you all to read back issues of linux weekly news for the flamewar resume.

Reiser4 all the way, no problems at all! Actually I don't care when it comes in main-kernel tree because I can't remember when was last time I used non-experimental kernels ;)

But it would be good, more people using it --> better stability and performance

Well, I don't see any problem if the metadata stuff is disabled, like in the recent -mm kernels. Sure, there are still some (minor) bugs which are being dealt with, but putting it into mainline marked as "experimental" would do only good IMHO. It does not bring any major change in the rest of the kernel, and surely it would benefit from a larger userbase. So I see no reasons for holding it back.
