i think the problem started with the latest baselayout on a test system running 1.4 and ~x86 , after installing this latest baselayout the hid module fails to load during boot.
if i run insmod hid after i logon it works, the 2 config files that needed updating after emerge finished were /etc/init.d/halt.sh and /etc/modules.d/aliases
i saw no significant differences in either that seemed to point to anything usb related but i am not sure...anyone have a suggestion as to where to look or why modules.autoload cant load i driver i can manually? |

Precisely the same problem here after an update on the evening (GMT) of the 26th, only things that got updated were modutils and baselayout.
There's nothing in the logs or in dmesg output to suggest what went wrong, and hid loads OK when done manually after booting. I wonder if putting hid twice in modules.autoload would fix this (temporarily)? (not at gentoo box atm)
Oh well, can wait a couple of days then file a bug report against modutils. |

i couldnt figure out what was going on...but i think waiting for another baselayout update might fix it...this is just a test platform anyway but it was strange |
