ALSA-driver ebuild not containing snd-via82xx?

Hi all,

How come the snd-via82xx driver isnt included in the alsa-driver0.9.0.ebuild?

I got everything working (installed the alsa-*.ebuilds (driver, lib and utils ), and then just grabed alsa-driver.tar.bz2 from alsa. And used it to compile the missing driver(./configure --with-cards=via82xx --with-sequencer; make; make install)), so im only asking of couriosity.

Is there some reason that the driver was left out of the ebuild(maybe its unstable or something? personally i havent had problems with the one i grabed from alsa) , or is it simply a error?

I don't think you can use 82xx unless you are using release canidate 5 or greater. I installed a couple of weeks ago and by default emerge alsa-drivers wanted to install release candidate 2. but if you go into the alsa directory you can manually tell it to emerge a different release candidate.

I used rc5 and "82xx" worked fine.

with rc2 you have to specify like "8233"
