Well I downloaded and booted into 2005.0 awhile ago just to see what it was like and it recongnized alot more of my hardware. My question is, is there a way to get the modules of the 2005.0 livecd on to my hdd. I know it is possible probally but I dont know the exact commands.

Help appriciated,

I would think you could cp from /lib/modules on the LiveCD. However, I am not sure that is a wise thing to do. I would suspect there could be lots of problems with the modules copied over not being built against your current kernel, like missing symbols or mismatched symbols, etc.

A better solution might be to make note of what hardware the liveCD recognized and make a list of what modules it loaded, then try compiling those things into your own kernel.

The genkernel script has an option that will allow you to intervene and enter "make menuconfig". You could try that and see if the modules you want are already selected or not. But first you might try explicitly loading the modules yourself. If you know what modules you want loaded you could add them to /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6, for which they would be loaded everytime you boot. However, if the modules you want loaded are not created by genkernel, then use the option I mentioned at first to add them to your kernel.
