How do i open an app in a new termianl (ex in /dev/tty2 from tty1)? I can do lynx >> /dev/tty2, but it still takes input on tty1 and a user must be logged in to tty2 before it will not give premission denied errors. How can i make it open on tty2 and recieve keyboard input on that terminal even if the terminal hasn't been logged in to?

Also is there a way to split a terminal so i can have one app open in one half and another open in the other (horiz or vertical will work)

ok, so I'm probably not gonna answer your whole question, but take a look at your
Code:
/etc/runlevels/boot/bootmisc
file. At the very bottom, it assigns:
Code:
chown root:tty /dev/tty[p-za-e][0-9a-f] &>/dev/null

So, in order to do anything, I think you'll need to set that up for your user to have access.

That's just a guess, though.
