|
|
I have been running Gentoo on an IDE Promise Controller for quite awhile (onboard.) I recently replaced that motherboard with a newer one that has a similar chipset. It also has a Promise controller but it is Serial instead of IDE. I have the 2004.2 Live disc. I booted it with 'doataraid' and I saw sda and sdb in /dev. I noticed that I have sdb1, sdb2, and sdb3. I figure these represent my three partitions (/boot, swap, and /) but I cannot mount any of them. Can anyone give me any assistance in mounting these partitions? /boot is ext2 and / is ext3. Like I said, these were created on an IDE RAID controller and now I am using a serial controller. The serial_promise module is loaded. |

I really need help here guys. I have no idea how to proceed. When I try to mount my /boot which is ext2 it will mount but when I type 'ls' I get an alignment error. When I try to mount my / partition which is ext3 I get this error:
SQUASHFS error: Can't find a SQUASHFS superblock on sda3
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
If I mount with -t ext3 I get this:
VFS: Can't find ext3 filesystem on dev sda3
I am a bit frustrated as no matter what I search for I can't find anything in this forum related to my problem. If anyone can provide assistance I would really appreciate it. |
