|
|
It's impossible!!! Can *anybody* at least try to help me and say what I need (to compiled into kernel, to install...whatever) so I really *have* /dev/svga??? Cause now I don't have it...
I have svgalib emerged. I have /dev/fb and I run my console in vesa:789 mode. It works. But I cannot play movies with mplayer using -vo svga (mplayer: Cannot open /dev/svga). Neither can I view images with zvg (zvg: Cannot open /dev/svga).
Guys please, HELP me!
Cheers,

Where's /dev/svga? Excellent question. I get that error message any time I try to use svgalib. I'll let you know if I find anything.... |

Evidently, when you emerge svgalib, a module called svgalib_helper.o is created. This module, when loaded, answers to /dev/svga requests. If you've built a kernel since the last time you emerged svgalib, you may need to re-emerge svgalib. It worked for me! |

Yeeeees man! I love you =) It works! Still no /dev/svga but now, when svgalib_helper is loaded it respons to /dev/svga interupts or whatever it is so both zgv and mplayer -vo svga works!!!
Just a question, can I set the resolution by any way?? Cause 640x480 isn't too good actually.... _________________ Registred Linux user #191143!

>This module, when loaded
That means, "modprobe <path/to>svgalib_helper" or loaded in which other way ? |

Actually, it seemed to load itself when I executed any svgalib application. Some type of module loading magic must be occurring somewhere. |

I think resolutions have to be changed by the application. In zgv, it's the F1-F4 keys, and I just don't know about mplayer; I run it only in X. |
