New Release!

This is a release to stay in sync with portage. There are three new revisions available: kdesktop, kicker, and ksmserver, so make sure they have the -r1 revision. ;)

http://www.gentooexperimental.org/~sleepyhead/kip/kde-3.5.4-split-kip-r2.tar.bz2

Happy compiling.

LOL, XD
I'm not that anxious to recompile everything anyways, working smoothly here. Good Luck with your project!

Is the pretty patch included ? because, i no new change for that.

I post a changelog with each announcement of a new release. All the patches should be there in the .tar.bz2 file. Though, I do need to release an update since there were revision changes in portage again. I will do that tomorrow some time. :)

Cheers.

I've tried to merge kdelibs-3.5.4-r2 of portage with -r1 of the last release
http://scullder.blog.free.fr/files/kdelibs-3.5.4-r2.ebuild
The main differences are the new useflag lua, new patchset (05) and env handling.
I've moved this patch /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs/files/kdelibs-3.5-lua.patch to the kdelibs files directory of my pertty overlay to make it work.
I'm not an expert of ebuild and gentoo but it just works for me.

Thanks for your work :)

Okay. thanks for your work.
Perrty seems to be not included.
Is-it a way to apply it ?

Pertty has been split into individual patches and now the project is renamed to "KDE Improvement Project" or KIP in short. You will not find patches with name "Pertty" in the tarball. Rather they have been split and named in a way so that they tell exactly what they are doing.

Initial post renamed to KIP.
StifflerStealth, is there a webpage or something I can link people to on the front page where they can grab the latest? Or is it always just a link direct to a new tarball? Also are there new instructions I can put on the front page to replace those from last year? :D

Cheers,

I will offer up hosting if needed. It will have to be snapshot based though.

Looks like you're building kdialog with the tango patch but kdelibs was built without it.

Hmm, so I have.

Is there an updated ebuild for kdelibs-3.5.4-r2 ?

Well that fixed the kdialog compile problem. But now I am getting a strange bug with the rubberband. When I drag it around things, both on the desktop and in konqueror, I get a sold color box that wont go away.

Screenie:

You compiled Qt 3.3.6-r2 from portage? That version is not patched with kip patches. You need nxsty's overlay which has the patches.

May I ask whats the meaning of pretty? And is there no overlay for this? A layman overlay would be very nice.

Originally I called it "pertty" as a play on the word "pretty" in like a Southerner accent, because at the time it make KDE look "real pertty like".. if that makes sense.

I'm happy to set up an svn account for this if StifflerStealth and or nxsty want it.

Ah ok thanks for making that clear. I think some more people would use it if there is a nice overlay for it. (for example me :))

Me too, it certainly would make keeping up to date easier for every one. Having an SVN repo for managing the patches seems to "just make sense".
