Stupid Question about masked packages

Sorry about asking such a stupid question, but how do I emerge maksed packages in the AMD64 archecture?? I tried ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" but I cannot get quake2 to emerge

I tried using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" and it still says the package is masked. Others have gotten it to work I see from other forums

I'm gonna have to sort of agree with Kuhndog96 here. The handbook documentation on this subject is NOT very clear, although it's wonderful in every other area.

I think if he took the time to really search the forums, however, he might get some clues.
