Hi all,
Well, I've gone and botched my Mozilla. I wanted to upgrade, so I could try galeon-cvs, due to the forms crashes. I tried to emerge mozilla-1.1, no luck, died on compilation. Then *big mistake* I unmerged my existing mozilla, to try again. Same thing. So, reemerge mozilla 1.0.1. No compile. Uh oh. Go a little crazy. Now I have tried in various combinations:
emerge rsync
USE=-gtk2
no lesstif
openmotif unmerged
NO_MAIL=YES (just to see if that helped)
Cleaned out distfiles, and /usr/tmp/portage
Tried 1.0.1-r2 and 1.0.1-r3
Dropped optimizations to -mcpu=athlon-xp -O2
I'm at my wits end. This damn thing takes an hour and a half to compile to death. Here's the final error (in 1.0.1-r2 and -r3, it's different in 1.1):
.deps/pipetest.pp: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [pipetest.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/mozilla-1.0.1-r3/work/mozilla/extensions/ipc/tests'
This happens while compiling pipetests.cpp.
I'm hoping and expecting that it's something profoundly stupid that I'm overlooking, but I can't see it for the life of me.
Thanks for _any_ help or ideas!

hmmm. my idea in such cases, when characters seem to dissapear, as in your case:
Quote: |
.deps/pipetest.pp: No such file or directory
This happens while compiling pipetests.cpp.

try to run some filesystem checks. and see if anything is broken.
maybe this helps. it looks really unrelated to your problem, but one never knows.

Thanks for the help m0p0rbe, but it looks like it actually needs the .pp file. However, after much swearing and cpu time, I (finally) noticed that in the ebuild it's trying to strip-flags, but I get a command not found during the ebuild!
I imagine that's important, but what could have happened to my strip-flags?
Thanks,
