I get a syntax error when trying to emerge.
print ">>>starting rsync with rsync.gentoo.org..."
^
Syntax Error: invalid syntax
Any ideas? I'm using bash 2.05a. in KDE3 terminal.

Make sure that your make.conf has exactly:
SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"
...and not just "rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage". That's the first thing that came to mind. |

I am using the old portage so my make.conf file does not contain the
SYNC line. I am trying to upgrade but I can't rsync w/ the new changes
in /usr/sbin/emerge. Syntax error.
