Hi folks,

when I try to emerge big things such as qt libs or kde it happends often that I get a seg fault. But then I emerge it again and it compiles flawlessly. Why?

It would be nice to emerge a couple of things togheter, go to sleep and wake up with a newly emerged system.

I've got an athlon-xp and my CFLAG="-mcpu=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"

Bye,
Tomas

Seg faults during merges are usually a sign of hardware problems, most commonly memory. Unless its a particular package and reproducible in that, hardware is almost certain. If you search these forums completely you will find a number of threads related to this topic. I suggest you try removing/replacing memory. Hope it isn't the motherboard.
