Dear All,

I have a Sony Multiscan E200 17' monitor and I use a GeForce4 MX440
64 Mbyte DDR card with the latest Nvidia drivers.

At the moment I have 1152x860 at 75 Hz. When I try putting X into
1280 x 960 refresh rates go down to a very flickery 60 Hz.·

I found several modelines on google, all claiming to be capable of
putting my X to 1280x960 at 85-100 Hz, none works...I also tried
setting VertRefresh to 85 or 100 without success... It seems that as
my system gets a specified refresh rate it select the appropriate
resolution (e.g 85 Hz puts me into 1024x768, 75 Hz gives 1152x860
etc).

Now, this card - according to the manufacturer spec - can do
1280x1024 at 100 hz (32 bit colors).

What am I missing?!
Thanks: Viktor

Try changing the HorizSync to 30-85. Not a large difference, but maybe the last 3 hz are the important ones to change to a better mode. *shrug*
(Got that from the specs links at http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/displays/legacy/CPD-EGLMXX_Series_1.html for the E200)

Thanks, I found a geneartor and the right modelines. The problem was that before I let the generator to use a default max 100 Vert refresh, instead of my 80 as a max. Apparently it did it...

BTW, this was
