|
|
After having seen a lot of websites talking about how gstreamer is miles better than arts I emerged it to use with Amarok. It skips. Arts doesn't and Xine is even better. Why? From what I've seen it should be the other way round (if sound skips with arts it shouldn't with gstreamer).
Thanks for your help
Luca
PS: I'm using an AMD64 gentoo installation running on an AMD 3800+ Dual Core pc with 1 gb ram, so it shouldn't be hardware problem... |

not sure if that causes the problem, but you use dual core cpu. From gstreamer 0.10 announce (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/gstreamer010.html)

Thread-safe
Designed from the ground up to be a thread-safe framework. GStreamer 0.10 will work flawlessly on multi-CPU and hyper-threaded systems which are getting more and more commonplace these days while hiding the complexity of threads away from most application developers.

which gstreamer do you use? If 0.8 some "threading problems" may be the reason. If so try 0.10
