Why does /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info say /dev/hdd is not a DVD drive? Did I miss a kernel option?

This is embarassing, but I'm not so sure anymore that this is a DVD drive. It says 52x24x52 on the front. I thought the three numbers meant "CD-read DVD-read CD-write". dmesg says DVD, but I don't think it means it.
