Hi, what needs to be done during installation, I guess particularly during kernel compile and xorgconfig, to get onboard AC'97 sound working and in the case of xorg config, when it wants to know gfx hardware, what should I tell it since I have Intel Extreme Graphics 2. My northbridge chipset is i865G. Also it asks for how much video memory the card has (in this case it's not a card, it's onboard) but on my case it says "with up to 64mb shared video memory. TIA

NorseHeathenX,
AC'97 is a sound coder and decoder standard. You need to know what your sound hardware is to know what to set in the kernel.
Running lspci may help here.
In your X setup, choose the vesa driver. Thats a get-U-going one size fits all driver. When you know it works, you can optimise later. Its a one line edit to your xorg.conf file.
If you go for broke, and try to set it all up, then test, it will take much longer to sort out the mess. _________________ Regards,
