So far so good. This has been very stable and its fast.
Much, much appreciated.
Thx you one of one.

The custom DSDT is working fine using the older initrd way.

Any ideas?

Same behavior here...
I thought it was due to my custom dsdt that isn't free of warnings (four exactly, I'm not able to correct them)

Is your dsdt completly free of errors/warnings ?

IIRC, yes, my custom DSDT doesn't have any problems/errors/warnings.

Even though the kernel compiles file, it breaks madwifi-driver:

The same driver compiles fine with, for example, the nitro sources.

Unfortunately, in this state love-sources are not usable for me :(

I've got a problem with this kernel that is kind of odd it seems.

My current kernel is 2.6.7-rc3-love1. Everything works perfectly.

hde - 74 GB raptor on Sil3112
hdg - 120 GB WD on Sil3112
hdc - 200 GB WD on ATA (nforce2)

I compiled and installed 2.6.9-rc2-love4 just fine, but it hangs on boot just after listing my two SATA drives as being both on IRQ 11. I get the IRQ nobody cared! error and then it just sits there. A few lines up it says that IRQ sharing is disabled.

So how do I get around this? Is there a simple way to compile support for IRQ sharing into the kernel or is there some boot option I can pass to get by this?

This is perhaps a controversial suggestion with me not knowing The Right Way to setup kernel configurations...

I wasted about 30 minutes looking for reiser4 before (after a few greps, and a read of the reiser4 Kconfig) discovering that I had to turn off 4K stacks, which was defaulted to on with love.

I seem to remember the first time I patched a kernel for reiser 4, there was no such block, but during the compile some reiser4 source file blurted out that I had to disable 4K stacks in a preprocessor #error..

Having now wasted 30 minutes, I'd argue that that is perhaps a better solution. Or at least a note (a dummy option/subcategory) for reiser4 on the FileSystems page that says 4K blocks need to be disabled in kernel hacking..

Moo.

Hi there,

I can't get X to work with the this love.
I followed OneOfOne's link to the 6111 r2 nvidia drivers and emerged it.
But my screen stays black when I start up X.

The X config works for me on my vanilla 2.6.5 kernel with nvidia drivers 5336, so it has to be something else.

Any suggestions?

i remember reading a reiser4 patch in one of andrew's previous mm releases saying something about 4KB stack fix. i was hoping it was a fix for it, but it was just a menuconfig modification.

I need some win4lin, and I suck at manually patching rejected hunks.

...I forgot to emerge nvidia-glx 6111... sorry.
But now I don't have glx support:

I know there's a 2.6.9-rc2 win4lin patch out there; the link is on the forums somewhere.

So I applied the patch and manually put in rejected hunks. However, It won't compile. Gives me this:

Code:
  GZIP    usr/initramfs_data.cpio.gz
  AS      usr/initramfs_data.o
  LD      usr/built-in.o
  CC      arch/i386/kernel/process.o
  CC      arch/i386/kernel/semaphore.o
  CC      arch/i386/kernel/signal.o
  AS      arch/i386/kernel/entry.o
  CC      arch/i386/kernel/traps.o
arch/i386/kernel/traps.c: In function `do_general_protection':
arch/i386/kernel/traps.c:526: error: `per_cpu__init_tss' undeclared (first use in this function)
arch/i386/kernel/traps.c:526: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
arch/i386/kernel/traps.c:526: error: for each function it appears in.)
arch/i386/kernel/traps.c:526: error: invalid type argument of `unary *'

Anyone got a solution yet? I've searched on google but haven't found anything that would help short of asking for a patch to irq.c allowing irq sharing. I tried using the irq.c from 2.6.7-rc3-love1 but it didn't work (failed compile).

Did you guys try passing pci=routeirq to the kernel on boot?

Yeah I tried that along with a whole slew of other options. I wonder what changed between 2.6.7-rc1-love1 and this kernel to make the difference?

I noticed that my Sil3112A chip likes to use only one IRQ, and as such, both drives attached to it have to share that IRQ. This is the problem. Is there maybe a way I can pass a command to the chip to use 2 IRQs? Or something else?

Reiser4 on /, but from the messages it looked like it was umounting one of my ntfs partitions. I don't think this is a love issue, I tried mm-sources and hit the same error.

You will need to reverse all of the per_cpu and all of the mmap patches in the mm patchset and then adjust the remaining init_tss code in the kernel patches from the 2.6.9-rc2 code to be as they were (i.e. 2.6.8.1 style), also have a look at the gcc 3.4/5 patches in the mm patchset (not sure if they are still there) and most likely reverse those.

Then it will compile. Reboot, it won't work yet (just seg-faults), then look at the mm-patches and see which ones have the init_tss code in, change those and you should be ok.

It is very long and very complicated with the mm-patchset, especially so since the 2.6.9-rc mm-patches as a lot of the previous mm stuff is now incorporated in the stock kernel so has to be looked at.

The problem is then two fold (IMO):

1. Do you actually have an mm-kernel when 12-15 patches and a lot of code has been revesed?
2. The resulting win4lin is not very stable.

It is possible but I wouldn't recommend it (also bear in mind some of the patches in this patchset will need the patches you will have to reverse to get win4lin to work).

Hope that makes some sense.
