Hello... i just did my third gentoo install in a row from stage 1 ..
My network works fine on Windows.. and on the gentoo live cd .. i just configure the interface and i'm on..
i installed the gentoo system .. configured everything.. and everything works fine .. except the network connection...
i can ping websites .. even emerge manages to connect to the server ... but after that.. nothing... it just says .. connected ... waiting for reply:80
and just hangs there... firefox connects to websites but doesn't do anything as well...
what's wrong ?? (i had a working gentoo install a few weeks ago ... what happened since then ?)
i tried both ck-sources and dev-sources ...
i'm stuck.. please help me |

Do you have a firewall in place? Maybe it's blocking replies... |

no.. the connection has problems from the start...
what bothers me is that the live cd connects just fine
and that previous installs worked on the same configuration
i tried enabling ipv6 .. disabling packet filter
loading my network card (8139too) as a module... nothing
lynx says.. connected wating for reply and just hangs there ... so does emerge .. and emerge sync stalls on checking server timestamp..
everything that envolves an actual transfer of data doesn't work.. |
