|
|
For the first time I managed to compile rhythmbox (0.4) and gst-player. Both need 100 % of my processor when playing, I guess it has something to do with gstreamer. Gstreamer gives also warnings like
(gst-player:937): WARNING **: alsa: xrun of at least 213.169 msecs
both programs give alsa warnings. Does somebody know more? As for now I will continue to use xmms and mplayer for all my multi-media needs..... |

Answering myself: I found out that using the alsa plugin in gstreamer will utilize 100% cpu.
gst-launch filesrc location=./Wheatus-Wannabe_Gangster.mp3 ! mad ! alsasink
cpu == 100%
gst-launch filesrc location=./Wheatus-Wannabe_Gangster.mp3 ! mad ! osssink
cpu == 15%
Still high but a lot less! Strange because oss is a emulation by alsa.
How can I change the output to oss? This forum mentions gnome-control-centre->advanced->Monkey-Media but i don't find this caplett. |

This is a known gstreamer bug in alsa plugin
You can can change the output with gconf-editor but I don't remember the key |
