|
|
After installing and configuring Gentoo 2.4.27 from Stage 1.
I have gotten all the way to rebooting at the end of section 10 of the Gentoo Handbook.
When the system boots up it finds my kernel and comes up with the following message:
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly.
mount_devfs_fs(): unable to mount devfs, err: -2
Warning: unable to open an initial console.
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
Press L1-A to return to boot prom.
----
At this point I can hit STOP-A go to Open Boot and reboot off of CD.
This is my first Linux install in about 4 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Coby |

did you check your fstab?
do you have only one partition for root?
I had this problem before, or something similiar, if you set one partion for root, gentoo will mount and umount the drive on bootup, and then cant find the filesystem residing in said drive.
this can be taking care of by simply add a seperate partition for /boot _________________ ~:CK:~ |
