It hangs at NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0.
No errors just hangs there. What is going on here? _________________ _______________________________________

have you activated in your kernel unix domain socket and smp? You may have to (un)compile them... _________________ Nous autres, mordus d'informatique, préférons par-dessus tout passer notre temps à bidouiller nos ordinateurs, plutôt que les utiliser pour faire quelque chose de productif. Yes they are both compiled in. I'll try recompiling without those in there.
Wait a minute the help for Unix domain sockets say's: Say Y unless you know what you are doing.
I will however try it without SMP compiled in. _________________ _______________________________________

Yes, it's probably SMP. That's the same thing that happened to me.. SMP = N and BINGO!

Still waiting for my slow ass pentium 200Mhz with only 48MB of ram to finish the compile. I'll let ya know in a minute.
Alrighty then, it now boots up to the login prompt but not without errors.
1. Failed to load pcnet32 (even though it failed to load I can still ping myself and ifconfig works fine ).
2. Starting syslogd, klogd...
start-stop-daemon: stat /usr/sbin/sylogd: No such file or directory
start-stop-daemon: stat /usr/sbin/klogd: No such file or directory
* Failed to start syslogd, klogd !!
*ERROR: Problem starting needed services.
* "vcron" was not started
*Starting local... OK
Any ideas?
I almost forgot to let you know that I previously made a mistake and emerged both syslogd first then metalog after So I tried to unmerge metalog but I guess it didn't completely unmerge. How do I get rid of metalog only? _________________ _______________________________________

Well I figured out the pcnet32 problem, it was already compiled in the kernel. _________________ _______________________________________
