|
|
Hi,
I am running Firefox 0.9.3-r1 and have the mozilla flash plugin installed. Flash movies work fine, but the sound is all chipmunk-like. Sound works fine in any other application (xmms, etc) but just not in flash movies. I am running KDE 3.3.0, and unfortunately am stuck with OSS for sound as I had no end of troubles in getting ALSA working.
Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this trouble, and possibly have a fix for it? I'm missing my fix of newgrounds
Regards,
Ben |

I was having silly problems. in KDE with sound and NON-KDE apps.
Sound didn't work with xmms very well and mozilla would fight xmms for the sound device and then sound would break.. and so on and so on..
to Fix *ALL* sound problems in KDE with Mozilla:
I simply started mozilla with Code: | artsdsp /usr/bin/mozilla --splash |
(Sorry I like the splash screen to let me know what is up.)
With that all my sounds worked *PERFECT* in mozilla I can only guess at it but using kde it's prolly good to use kde's sound system??
Might help your sound issues. Mozilla now plays well with xmms with no problems also... (I'm starting to see how a unified sound architecture can be very usefull.)
And to fix xmms I learned from another article:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=206437&highlight=
(thanks again Titeuf)
emerged xmms-arts
Then selected arts as the sound plugin for xmms.. beautifull..
*I love this d-stro!* Gentoo has forced me to actually LEARN what is going on inside the box... my computer life is soooo much easier now that I have more background... (trouble shooting Mac and Window$ problems are even easier now, then they were before.)[/url] _________________ ________________________

if you get alsa working (maybe check the gentoo howto for it?) then you can run aoss firefox. That outputs the sound thru alsa (via the oss emulation layer) |
