Hello.
I recently installed Gentoo 1.4rc1. Everything workied like a charm throughout the install. I compiled NE2000 support into the kernel and configured networking exactly as it said in the docs (except for the module part as I went ahead and compiled it into the kernel).
After the 1st reboot, nothing. eth0 failed.
I remember when I installed, I had to tell the system to use the ne driver using modprobe...
modprobe ne io=0x320 irq=4
Now, I had to specifically mention the io and the irq in order for this to work. It's an old card. I did nothing to set this up in any configuration files though, and that is why I believe it doesn't work. Problem is, where do I specify this type of thing???
Thanks!

I think the better way is to compile the module as module. Then you can put in your /etc/modules.autoload this line:
ne io=0x320 irq=4 _________________ Nous autres, mordus d'informatique, préférons par-dessus tout passer notre temps à bidouiller nos ordinateurs, plutôt que les utiliser pour faire quelque chose de productif. [Dave Barry] |
