Laptop: Area51 (because for some time it had been doing crazy things I could fix, but never fully understand), before it has been: Gollum, Miststueck (and some other German swear words, when it behaved particullarly annoying)

I should rename it to "Baby" because it's getting old and often gives me the creeps - when, for example, losing parts of the hard drives formatting - and I start running aroound like "my baby is dying  "

Desktop: SwordCoast
Gaming PC: no gentoo yet, shame on me.....

Evanescent - Because it intermittently appears and disappears on my network (meant to do that).
Monolith - It looks like this
Pipsqueak - It's small
Octagon - It's my PS3 (8 SPEs).

I use names of Decepticons, my ESSID is Cybertron.

Router: Shockwave, since he's the one who handles communication between Cybertron and Earth.
Main computer: Megatron, the leader - obviously.
Secondary computer: Starscream, the one who's trying to be leader.
Ps3: Soundwave, it's got a slot and it handles my entertainment.

Can't believe this thread keeps popping up to the top after almost five years. :)

I have a few more names since my last post on the subject.

A windoze machine I am stuck with - banal

A tempermental machine (and sometimes owner) - irascible

And to indulge the Russian side of the family:

A laptop - perenosnoi (portable)

A computer in a cold place - obmorozhennykh (frostbite)

And my favorite (just to tease the spouse) - uralskiyeholmi (Ural Hills - as in, those are too small to be mountains :) )
