cluster's master node= Wintermute (an AI from Neuromancer by William Gibson)

2 modded x-box's = Azrael and Morningstar (after the second and first fallen angels respectively,..... lucifer is too over used)

and of course the old p2's and pentiums dont get to have an identity of their own, i guess you can call them almost worthless

the entire clusters name = ASCII White (forgot where i got that one)

and while im in the introducing spirit.....

my cat = Tiberius Helios Capricornius (THC, or TC for short)

-blah

-xen

Current machines are:

Moonlight - so called because it's in an Antec Sonata piano black case
Minas Ithil - it's in a Lian Li aluminium silver tower case
Goldberry - my wife's machine (a Gateway P6)
Plato - built from components bought from an outfit called Academy Computers
Gimli - this is a Toshiba laptop

I have previously owned computers I've called Holly (another Gateway), Toad, Badger and Moley. I still have the Laserjet I christened Ratty at the same time...

I used the names of Goa'uld from the Stargate Series:

Anubis - My main system - always on brink of a nervous breakdown
Baal - The linux side of my laptop
Bastet - The Windows side of my laptop.
Camulus - My Server - mail, rsync, printer, firewall. Also provides modem access to network
Hathor - Linux system at work
Kali - My Mac (OSX)
Morrigan - future plans
Nirrti - future plans
Osiris - future plans

At one time I had an cluster of ten computers, a server named Zeus and nine named after the muses of Greek mythology: : Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania. It is long gone now, just wanted to build a cluster.

Camulus above was named Cronus at one time. Never liked Cronus - name never fit even though there was a Goa'uld by that name. Before that this was Zeus in the cluster I made.

The nine muses are currently not in service.

All my Linux systems are Gentoo Powered.

former desktop - khartoum - taken from Jack Woltz's prized horse in The Godfather. Fortunately for me, it wasn't beheaded during the time I owned it.

current desktop - colombo - Official name of the capital of Sri Lanka. I'm not sure where I got that from.

laptop - osano - take from the name of the over zealous character in Mario Puzo's "Fool's Die". If the book consisted of just the first half, it would be undoubtly my favorite book.

My private domain is "TIERRAMEDIA" (I think that is MIDDLEEARTH in English, from The Lord of the Rings of JRR Tolkien :D ). My linux workstation is COMARCA (Bagginstone or something like it hehe), the server is GONDOR, and the other 2 PCs are LOTHORIEL and MORDOR. I hope to add a new one soon (THIRITHS MINES).

[code]
GONDOR => Pentium Pro 200 Mhz. 64MB RAM, SCSI 3Gb. Running Debian Woody (2.4.18-bf2.4).
COMARCA => Pentium IV 1.8Ghz. 512 DDR 266, Maxtor 30.0Gb, Maxtor 8.9 Gb. NVidia GeForceFX 5200 128Mb. Running Gentoo 2004.01 (2.6.7-r1).
LOTHORIEL => Pentium IV 1.5Ghz, 256 SDRAM, W.D. 40Gb. Running Windows XP SP1.
MORDOR => Pentium IV 2.4Ghz HT, 512 DDR 333, W.D. 80Gb. Running Windows XP SP1.
[\code]

Hey mine is sort of named after me.
mrtoadsbox -> Main desktop. Gentoo!! Cel 850 OC'ed to 1003MHz Talk about speed. LOL.
it was called mrphuc_head which was my old user name until I grew up some and relised that It was the main reason I was getting kicked from so many chat rooms. That and I love to screw with peoples minds.
and My Laptop which I am getting in less then a month when the financial aid for school comes in is going to be a eMachine M6811 amd64 3400+ i think is going to be called theliiypad
My Name is Todd and I have been called Toad by all of my friends and brother for as long as I can remember.

But I would love to put together a little network of computers and name them after some of the people in the Dark Tower Series by stephen King aka Roland, Eddie Dean, a dual boot machine or print server names Holmes (detta, odetta, suzanna) or just three ofthe same machines, Jake, Oy, Walter, Martin, and the main server the Rose or Dark Tower. That would be awsome.

-Todd

The windows side of my desktop is Illithid, the Gentoo side is Ullitharid.

In case you're wondering, an Illithid is a D&D monster that eats brains, an Ullitharid is a greater, more powerful monster of the same species. (In Forgotten Realms, they are the Illithid "nobles")

my Gentoo machine in the office is called calvin (but I'm still waiting for Hobbes ;-))

At home my Gentoo boxes are called Borbi after the famous Borbarad (from the DSA RPG) and Salix (one of my "famous" DSA Charakters)...

My laptop: Silvia (after my car)
Desktop: Zonda (bigger and faster)
Old pentium 200: Lemmings (because about all it does is run that)

Dad's laptop: Midget, after a car he used to own
Mum's: Dimension, because it's a dell dimension... boring...

Mine are awaiting a naming scheme, but I haven't found one I really like yet.
